I love the smell of fresh laundry when it comes out of the dryer. Too bad most of the time when it’s time to actually wear that t-shirt or sweater it doesn’t smell quite the same. Well, I have a little secret that I cannot wait to share with you guys! I don’t know what I was thinking not telling you this sooner. Anyways, it’s probably not that serious, but to me, it’s a real gem. So first, I am going to tell you the story behind it.
A few years ago, one of my beloved grandmothers passed away (Mattie Carey Hall). She was a God fearing, loving, gentle, beautiful, humble, and well-dressed woman (there truly aren’t enough words to describe her awesomeness). She was the ultimate role model for anyone wanting to live a Godly life. She wore holiness daily and prayed hard for her family. Definitely someone I loved and looked up to.
After her passing, my sisters and I were going through all of her belongings to see what we wanted to keep. It was such a fun time! We laughed, talked, cried, played dress up lol, and truly remembered our grandmother. While emptying her drawers, we found bars and bars of soap. Not just any soap but Dove soap. At first, we thought that she was just losing her mind buying all that soap. Maybe she just wanted to make sure she was always clean? Or maybe that was her stockpile? Anyways, once we started trying on clothes, we figured it out! She kept the soap in her drawers to keep her clothes smelling fresh! Her clothes smelled so good. Yes, she also used the soap, which is probably why she had so much of it lol. But her ultimate goal was to have great smelling clothes. I thought it was such a great idea that I took a bunch of bars home with me!
As soon as I got home, I placed the bars in my drawers just as my grandmother had done. Four years later, the bars are still in my drawer and my clothes still smell heavenly! Thank you so much, Nana!
So head on out and buy a couple bars of your favorite scent to put in your drawers! You won’t be disappointed!
How do you keep your clothes smelling fresh? I would love to hear about it in the comments below! Thanks for reading!
